GM Maurice Green has spent nearly two weeks teasing DRC’s still-unnamed newest addition without giving up a single hard detail — no name, no weight class, no gender. Today, asked directly one more time, he didn’t budge on the facts, but he changed his tone.

“I’ve said ‘closer than people think’ for a while now,” Green said. “Let me put it differently. You’re not going to have to ask me when it happens. You’ll know.” Pressed on whether that meant an appearance before Reckoning #1, Green allowed the question to sit for a moment before answering. “I didn’t say that. I also didn’t say I didn’t.”

With DRC’s first night nine days away, it’s the most direct hint yet that whatever — or whoever — Green has been building toward is arriving on his terms, and soon.
